Panzhihua Steel "green steel" production exploration test successfully completed

Recently, Panzhihua Steel Research Institute and Xichang Steel Vanadium have carried out a high scrap specific carbon test to explore the feasibility of "green steel" production and further tap the potential of steel energy saving and carbon reduction.

The so-called "green steel" refers to high-quality steel produced by green environmental protection processes, and its production can reduce the use of fossil fuels, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, achieve clean production, and have high environmental protection and sustainability. The automotive industry has increasingly high requirements for "green steel", and all important Oems have proposed a roadmap for carbon reduction of automotive steel. In China, Shougang, China Baowu and other key enterprises have successfully carried out more than 40% of the large scrap steel production tests for automotive steel.

Based on the background that the heat source loss of vanadium extraction from hot metal is large, the idea of adding a certain amount of scrap steel to each link of existing steelmaking process is put forward on the basis of fully demonstrating the energy-saving effect of the system. This round of test explored the addition of scrap steel about 40%, the research institute and Xichang steel Vanadium technical staff tracking the whole exploration test, observing the addition and melting of scrap steel, the overall stable and controllable production, verifying the feasibility of producing "green steel" with a high scrap ratio.

In the next step, Panzhihua Steel will continue to optimize the key process of high scrap ratio carbon reduction, improve the scrap ratio consumption of Xichang Steel Vanadium Automobile steel production, open up the "green steel" production process, and promote the transformation of steel production to green and low-carbon.
